How we're compensated

Some pages on this site include ways to request quotes from local contractors — a form, or a phone number. When you use them, we may be paid by lead-generation networks or advertising partners who connect homeowners with contractors. If you call a number listed on this site or submit a quote request, your information is shared with the network and its participating contractors so they can contact you about your project. We are compensated for that connection whether or not you hire anyone.

What compensation does not affect

Our cost data is computed from published sources and government wage data using the pipeline described in our methodology. Advertising partners have no input into the figures we publish, the ranges we show, or the editorial content we write. We do not accept payment to alter cost data, and no contractor can pay to appear as a "recommended" provider in our data tables.

What we are not

We are not a contractor, licensed trade professional, insurance adviser, or agent of any contractor. Cost figures are estimates for calibration, not quotes. Insurance notes describe common policy patterns, not advice about your policy — coverage always depends on your specific policy terms.
